special needs kids acting as janitors at lunch? comment/read.
woww. oh my goodness. it's been so long, and so much has happened, since i blogged last.
i don't even remember every weekend since then? so umm. i guess i'll just list some highlights/updates.
- me, ashley, my grandma (nanny), & my mom went to blowing rock in the rain, ate kilwin's, ate more, shopped some, and laughed the most i've laughed in one day..ever.
- HAH i went to ashley's neighborhood party last weekend, we had some fun. <--definitely a night i'll never forget. ;) :X :O
- i read & finished the count of monte cristo in english class! hah. i sound like a nerd for putting this on here, but it's actually a good book. and having to read like 70 pages every two nights makes you think about it all the time. haha.
- as for guys, i don't like who i thought i did. just got a bad vibe from him, even though it may be in my head. :|
- have so many guys i flirt with. and i like it that way. :) if something more comes out of that, then so be it. but i'm more happy single, than i've been in a while.
- started a new project in art. i'm drawing this dog/coyote thing. mine SUCKS. hahahaha. whatevs.
- i think i may be pulling up my grade in english? score. but tomorrow will most likely ruin that, since we have a HUGE test on the count that i have yet to study for (at ten thirty the night before). haha.
- mom went to vegas AGAIN. me & dad had fun chilling, driving around, going out to eat, and watching movies in the basement, as usual. <3
- going to church with amy sometime last week made me realize how much i need Christ back in my life. i have him in my heart, no doubt, but i miss the strong relationship that i've felt before. :/
ANDD by the way. amy brought this to my attention. and now i've noticed it & felt true sympathy about it since. okay, so special needs/E.C. kids clean up after us in the cafeteria every day. they wipe down the tables, take out trash & stuff, and mop/sweep. i think this is RIDICULOUS. they already feel out-of-it enough, why would you freaking make them be janitors at lunch? i think you'd try & make them feel as normal as possible. they are, after all, teenagers in high school too. even though they have learning disabilities or mental ones, they have personalities, social lives, friends, and feelings too. amy was saying that her sister, when she was in high school, asked the principal about it, & she had replied that these activities increased their skills so that, since they wouldn't probably be able to become things like lawyers, doctors, etc, they could at least have the abilities to get jobs such as janitors, & so forth. that is RIDICULOUS. that makes me so mad. i personally know 2 kids in the E.C. program, and they are hilarious and bring joy to my days. these two specific girls don't have to do the whole lunch-clean up thing. it's always the same ones every day. i don't know how they pick which kids? but umm. i think it's horrible. someone needs to do something about it, no lie. leave comments with what you think on it. some of my friends i've talked to about it agree with it, and think it's giving them something to do. tell me your opinion. :)
write sometime soon hopefullyyy?
sincerely,
liz.
